The StoryThe Bastids team started at the end of 2007 as the only =BFB= COD4 team. Started by Zobol, the team was initially created to compete in the holiday season COD4 taster competition organised by SGS and, in particular, the admin Noobzy. Bringing in players from the BF2 team and generally having a lot of fun in the competition, =BFB= got thumped in almost every game, but learned a lot in the process. Due to life commitments halfway through the competition, Zobol had to hand over the management of the team to, then unknown, qu1k_sh0t. After much initial reluctance, qu1k drove the team forward with much gusto. =BFB= entered the first AGASA pre-season tournament with a team comprising mainly COD4 players and started to gain a little momentum in this very competitive team. However, the team didn't do as well as had been hoped, losing most of the games. The last game of this tournament marked the return of Zobol to the fold. We got hammered 24-0 by the, then infamous, |N|eworder team in that last match, but we vowed to come back and beat them someday. With the end of the pre-season competition, =BFB= decided to recruit a number of players to strengthen the team and brought Jax and Craffie on board within a relatively short space of time With the new-look team comprising qu1k_shot, Doggeh, Craffie, Jax and Zobol, and Dingbat and Soloboom playing reserve (quite often!), the team started to put together consistently good performances and overturn, quite convincingly, many of the losses it had conceded in the pre-season tournament. =BFB= entered the quaifiers for the first AGASA premiere league, but lost out to the niNja team that later joined Pantheon. Not deterred and with another new member, d3tox, =BFB= sailed through the Division 1 league losing only 1 match to r0gue Outcasts and qualified for the premiere league. At the same time as the AGASA leagues, =BFB= entered the BOTC tournament and started to shine. Very much the underdogs, the Bastids (as they were now called), toppled first nBk's second team (a team we had yet to beat) and then went into the second round of the competition and the match that put =BFB= on the COD4 map. The team faced up against |N|eworder for the first time since the pre-season closer and shocked the community. Never before had the Bastids been so motivated for a game and it showed as the team put in an intense, relentless performance to beat |N|eworder 13-11. There was much jubilation. After this match, =BFB= put together more fine performances, narrowly losing to niNja in overtime in the upper bracket semi-final and then beating both r0gue teams quite convincingly in the lower bracket of the competition. Facing off against FiB (now Entropy Gaming) in the lower bracket final, the Bastids lost 13-10, taking third place in the competition. The Bastids subsequently competed in rAge 2008, losing out to the eventual winners Borg in the quarter finals, and the last AGASA premiere league for 2008. It was a disappointing premiere league, with 5 teams pulling out, a new game seemingly set to displace COD4 on the horizon (which it didn't and won't) and a general lack of drive in the team, leaving =BFB= in 6th place at the end. At the end of 2008, a mix Bastids/muPtarDs team competed at the November Vendetta Lan, coming third. After a long break from competition the team is back together with renewed drive and focus. Due to inspirational captain, qu1k_shot, leaving for (much) greener pastures in Northern Ireland, he has been replaced in the team and Zobol has moved to the reserve bench and a general oversight role, due to more life commitments and being too old and decrepit to keep up with the younguns. The two new members of the team for 2009 are Bambi's Revenge and Lelouch, former CS:S player and well known COD4 player respectively. The team is ready for a great 2009. 2009 began with a name change and a new leader emerging. The team was renamed to laRd and Doggeh took over the captainship. During the first leg of the AGASA DoGaming Premier League, laRd was struck with a sudden loss of players losing both Jax and Craffie to school commitments. This left the team in desperate need of capable players in order to maintain their spot in the Premier League. The day, however, was saved by the return of qu1k_sh0t to South Africa from Northern Ireland. qu1k_sh0t will once again take up the role of captaincy with d0ggeh stepping down to Vice-Captain. The remaining gaps in the team have been filled by two new members: xiR and CaPunT. Both xiR and CaPunT are highly regarded members of the community and fine aditions to the laRd team. With the a new and capable lineup, laRd looks forward to Leg 2 of the Premier League.
